PLEA FOR HELP!

I have surfaced from the "Tomb"! (My other office) to send out a plea for help!

WE WANT YOU - JOIN OUR FORCES beginning Friday April 4th at noon to help us raise our pledge of $2,000.00 for THE QUILT! Call in and book a time, 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 2 hours, etc.. We will be there for 30 hours straight so come in anytime and help us get these quilts done. Any quilts made during the Marathon will be donated to The Quilt! It's a worthwhile cause!

Just a note - we will be at the Etobicoke Quilters Guild Show - Quilt Fever at the Neilson Park Creative Centre on March 28th, 29th and 30th. Look for us in the Merchants Mall.

Happy Quilting!

Jo-Ann

"The Quilt" 30 Hour Marathon

2008 Quilt Marathon
noon Fri., April 4 to
6:00 pm Sat., April 5

We will be hosting our second annual 30 Hour Quilting Marathon in support of THE QUILT: A Breast Cancer Support Program.

All monies raised will be donated to THE QUILT, the only national organization dedicated solely to raising funds for Breast Cancer Survivorship Programs. Their objective is to raise funds to support increased resources in partnership with organizations such as Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation's Survivorship program, Wellspring and the Canadian Cancer Society. These caring organizations offer free physical and emotional therapies for survivors when they need it the most. In its first eight years THE QUILT has raised over $1.5 million to fund these programs.

The 2007 Quilt Block Challenge hosted by Northcott is over, the winners have been chosen and now the quilts have to be made. We will have the honour of arranging those amazing blocks donated by quilters from all over Canada into quilt tops, stitching them together and then backing and binding them. This year we will be assembling two "quilt-as-you-go" style quilts that will be donatated to THE QUILT for their auction in 2009.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Download a pledge form here and start collecting donations. (Pledge forms are also available at the store.) Then, if you are able, come and join us on April 4th and/or 5th to sit and stitch. All skill levels welcome. We will provide you with the "fuel" to keep you going - comfort foods, snacks (the good ones and the bad ones) and plenty of liquids. And there will be prizes and silent auction items to bid on. For those with stamina, we will be having an overnight pyjama party on April 4th and Jo-Ann will be making a breakfast of french toast for the survivors!

If you can spare some time to help with the assembly, just call the store and we'll put you on to the schedule in your preferred time slot. For your comfort, we have set up a roster of 2 hour time slots to ensure that the classroom won't be overcrowded. However, "walk-ins" will be welcomed, space permitting. Cheerleading is always welcome!

Cock-A-Doodle Quilts raised $2,000 in 2007. With your help we can double that this year. Won't you please help out? Even if you can't make it to the store to sew, your support in the form of a pledge donation or two will help. And remember, every donation of $20 or more will receive a charitable tax receipt from THE QUILT.

We look forward to seeing you at the Marathon.
