Jo-Ann & Barb's Excellent Adventure II - Day 2

Hi everyone!

Barb and I had an absolutely exhausting, exhilerating, inspiring day today! From 10:30 a.m. until close to 6:00 p.m. with a break for lunch at The Olive Garden (remember that fabulous salad - I pigged out) we looked at, fondled and chose fabrics for the store.........and WOW did we do great! They will start arriving in July and keep coming until November!!!!!

For a little sneak preview - check out these!

From Benartex a gorgeous oriental theme in luscious Blacks, Golds and
Scarletts.

From Henry Glass, designed by Kim Diehl and arriving in October, Country Haven with an amazing free quilt pattern also designed by Kim Diehl. It has to be seen close up......

Apple Pie from Timeless Treasures will be arriving shortly and it is wonderful. The apples are so realistic you'll want to take a bite out of them....or put them in the oven to bake.

As we were about to leave Barb asked if there were any quilt stores in the area worth visiting. Sonflower Quilts and The Quilting Foundry were the two reccomended. I checked the Quilters Travel Companion (the quilters Bible) and found out they were both open Tuesday evenings (how lucky can you get)....So off we went to Sonflower Quilts.

....where we found lots of great ideas and some new patterns we can source out for the store as well as a great idea for a "take away" Block of The Month. Stay tuned for something wonderful....Then off to The Quilt Foundry where we met Peg, one of the 4 owners. They have been there for 20 years and they're still friends - she says. She also knows Patsy Thompson who teaches in her store. Our next trip will be to take a class with Patsy. (and to buy fabric - of course.)

For Barb and I this was a fabulous day - who could beat looking at fabric all day then heading out to quilt stores. We topped it off with a late dinner at Applebee's of Chicken Fajitas and Iced Tea (the real thing - no sugar added)and have moved over to The Comfort Inn for our last night.

Tomorrow we hit "The Toy Store" - we promise to get all the good stuff! See you soon....

Happy Quilting!

Jo-Ann and Barb

I'm enjoying reading about your trips as they happen. Also nice to see the "inside" of a quilt owner's shopping trip. BTW I love Kim Diehl (?spelling), and was pleasantly surprised she has a fabric line.

Dear Gail -

Kim's fabric line is stunning - I know the pictures are horrible but I fell in love with the fabrics as well as the quilt she designed with them. I can't wait to get them into the store and start that quilt!

All the best,

Jo-Ann
