Monday, Monday!

Easter Monday is always a little busier at the store.  Alot of people who normally work during the week are off work on Easter Monday so we get to see alot of familiar faces.......it's loads of fun!

Fiona dropped by for a cup of coffee, a "free" lunch (we serve lunch on Monday for Sit & Sew) and to see if she could coerce us into squaring up her fabulous Ricky Tim's quilt which she finished quilting in the wee hours this morning......Of course we were happy to oblige and with a little blocking I think she has a winner.

She chose to quilt it without a backing layer and is planning to "pillow case" it!  I think it will be fabulous!

Tonight is the last class for Barb's Beginner Hand Piecing.  We have three "graduates" and they have all done a beautiful job......what's more, they are all really happy with their fabrics, colour choices and blocks......

Nancy's is done in these wonderful muted tones and she's changed up her applique block - she did a phenomenal job.

The "other" Nancy has also chosen fabulous colours.  She still has a bit of stitching to do and she's already chosen her sashings and borders.

Sara's fabrics really pop on her background, she is also changing her applique block.  She wants it to say "Sara's First Quilt".  She hasn't chosen her sashings and borders yet.....

I have to say that all of us at the store feel a great sense of pride when our "new" quilters "graduate".  They are not the only ones who feel a sense of accomplishment - we are right there with them.

A while back we got a book in on hand quilting which neither Barb nor I had a chance to get a good look at.  Barb stopped to look at it today and highly recommends it for beginner hand quilters - she says it has some really great tips.......(better get myself a copy before I finish my Farmer's Wife quilt....as if!  It got stalled but my plan is to get back there real soon and catch up to my quota!)

Here's the book.......
Learn to do Hand Quilting In Just One Day by Nancy Brenan Daniel

I'm off to do some quilting myself - alas, no hand quilting tonight, working on a MYSTERY (which takes place on Friday April 30th!).  have a great night everyone and......

Happy Quilting!

Jo-Ann
