Sooo, Barb taught her paper piecing class and this is the sample quilt - this class is going to happen again because it's our Beginner Class so if you missed it - don't worry - it'll be back.....
The book that this pattern is in has all sorts of neat stuff to paper piece!
These are some of the class efforts of the day! Great fabrics!
The next class that happened was the Bobbin and Couching Class which Carolyn teaches. What a fantastic class - wish I could fit it in to my schedule - maybe someday!
The girls are all admiring each others efforts of the day.......
Libby brought Sumo to class after a very scary eye operation he had the day before....he was so well behaved, noone even knew he was there........
They all did some fabulous work! (I really need to make time to take this class - it's not just the embellishment possibilities, but it's also learning what your machine is capable of doing - it's so cool!)
....and even our resident Art Critic was impressed!
Then there was the Thursday Sit & Sew - Barb took this picture last week I think but I never got around to posting it! It is Linda's quilt from a Mystery that we did a while back -
It was originally a lap quilt but I think she made it bigger......
Yesterday!!!! Yesterday was our Block of the Month and Christmas club day! Usually - Elaine posts all these pictures on her blog but, she is off at a retreat this weekend so I was the substitute teacher......I didn't get rave reviews from the Christmas Club crowd - but I was "just" the substitute! However, I did get pictures of all their "homework" blocks.....
This is Lisa's - I took it Friday night because she had to take Ringo (the cat) to the vet on Saturday morning.....good excuse!
This is Beth's....and it is gorgeous!
This is Linda's and she's doing it Quilt as You Go, she's also done her embellishments already - it's beautiful! She also brought in her previous blocks for us to drool over!
This is one of the star blocks......
..and here are her Snow People (politically correct!) She's doing an amazing job!
This is Raili's block - good start!
...and Karen's got something happening here with some kitty cats to be added!
Here's Leslie's......almost done......
and Pat's is well on it's way.....
Flo's is in the chair because it hasn't been stuck down yet! (So do they lose points if the blocks not complete, or stuck down - or whatever.....)
hmmm, Judith did a bungalow! Pretty cool looking!
Okay, this does not look like a house! Kirstin didn't like the house so she made this instead - really cute!
Patricia made the house and shared another block.....
Her Snow People.....they are really coming along nicely!
It is so cool to see how different everyone's fabrics are and how fabulous every one of these quilts is going to be! Each one will be so unique! I can't wait until the reveal.....in December?!?! Not everyone made it to class this month so there's still more to see.......can't wait!
A quick "Sneak Peak" of a quilt that is going to be shown at the York Heritage Meeting on Tuesday night by a great group of quilters.....this is Beth's (she was working on the binding at the club today!
We are skipping the "treat" that Barb and I had last night and going right to today! Our favourite quilting group is here, we call them the Barrie Girls - (only one lives anywhere close to Barrie - however!) and they treated us to a Show and Share this morning - I had to put the egg down and stop making the meatballs (lunch) to get the pictures!
This was from a kit that Gail picked up at one of the quilt shows or the Creative Festival (not sure)! It really came out nice......
This one is also Gail's - it's Dennis' quilt and she designed it - the fabrics are all nautical prints and I even took close ups of the quilting which will hopefully show up because it is so cool.......
Check out the Sail Boat........
...and the Ship's Wheel! The quilting was done by Cathy Petrie of Cat's Country Quilting in Oro Station, just north of Barrie. She does a wonderful job and she does the quilting for all the girls in this Sunday group! She is a very talented long-arm quilter. I am trying to get cards to have in the store and I'm sure they will bring me some next time they are in!
This is Claire's second "ever" quilt - for her bed......it is really stunning! (and Cathy Petrie quilted it!)
..and finally, Cathie's quilt (which we've seen in all it's stages) is done! It's with the Mark Lipinski Califon line and it came out gorgeous - and guess who quilted it - you're right - Cathy Petrie!
That pretty much brings us up to date with what's happening in the store and completes the Second Instalment of today's blog! Don't forget to catch up on the first instalment! The third is coming shortly!
Happy Quilting!
Jo-Ann
P.S. Stay tuned for more!
