We will now introduce you to the newest rage "RECESSION QUILTING" (thank you Leanne for the name). Gillian has managed to get 3 quilts out of ONE (1) Fat Quarter. The centre piece is a table runner and the horses head appears in the centre of the quilt. The one on the left is a small wallhanging with no less than 6 horse blocks and the one on the right is another wallhanging or table runner with the balance of the horses made into crazy quilt blocks. Amazing! Every scrap was used......
Lunch today was Beef Stew with crusty bread. The girls all loved it and want the recipe so here goes. This one's a real cinch!
Beef Stew
1 lb. beef stew meat 1 lb. (12) small potatoes, cut in half
1 lb. carrots, peeled and cut into 3 inch pieces 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 pkg. Beef Onion Soup Mix 1/2 cup water
In slow cooker (crock pot) put beef, potatoes and carrots. Mix together Cream of Mushroom Soup, Beef Onion Soup Mix and 1/2 cup water. Pour over beef, potatoes and carrots. Cook on low setting for 8-9 hours.
Serves 4 ( I tripled the recipe and served around 10 with some left over which I had for dinner tonight!)
It was actually better than I expected it to be - and served with crusty bread and butter for mopping up the sauce - it was delicious! I'll bet if you use red wine instead of water it would really be nice!
I've found myself really looking forward to doing the blog - I hope you are all enjoying it as well!
I will be sending out some news soon about what's coming up! So check your e-mails and your mailboxes......it's hush, hush!
I am off to do some quilting in front of the TV after a very long day at my office and then at the store!
Happy quilting!
Jo-Ann
