Friday Night Sit and Sew......

The classroom is buzzing right now and I have disappeared into the "void" (my office) to send you the news........

Everyone has arrived and they are all setting up and getting ready for a night of industrious sewing.....
But first we must have fuel! The menu for tonight consisted of Baked Salmon Fillet, Lemon Rice and a Salad.....
Recipes
Baked Salmon Fillet

2 Salmon Fillet Bread Crumbs

Juice of 1 Lemon Fresh Dillweed

Unsalted Butter

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Put salmon on aluminum foil on a cookie sheet (with sides). Sprinkle with bread crumbs, juice of one lemon, fresh cut dillweed and dot with unsalted butter. Bake for 10 minutes or until done - (I think the two fillets took about 20 minutes). Serves 12.

Lemon Rice

Rice Water

Instant Chicken Soup Lemon

Dillweed Butter

Using the package instructions for amounts of rice and water - add chicken soup, juice of of one lemon, fresh cut dillweed and a dollop of butter. Bring to a boil, cover and cook at med high for 17-20 minutes. Serve.

Finally down to some serious work! Don't they all look industrious! Then dessert - it WAS chocolate something.... they finished it before I could get the picture.......quilters and chocolate, very scary! As if they didn't have enough energy! Now, down to business! Mitzi Zohar, President of Pieceful Nights Quilters Guild, had e-mailed a while back about this great project. Below you will see one of her "Preemie Quilts". This is an 18 inch finished quilt! Backed with baby flannel! It is a fabulous idea and....wait for it.....you know all those errant blocks you have lying around from unfinished quilts (the ones you will never finish) or technique classes that you have no idea what to do with...well....add a border to make it 18" square and you have a "Preemie Quilt". (No batting and minimal quilting please! these babies are fragile!) We will be doing a number of them with blocks and fabrics we have left over from finished projects and donating them to Toronto Sick Childrens Hospital and other area hospitals where they are needed. If you want to help us out just do up a few yourself and drop them off at the store when you have a chance!

I actually didn't notice until after I took the pictures that the block Mitzi used is a Heart! So now it's a Heart on its side. You get the idea..... I can't find the pictures of Bamboo and Pinwheels but if you go to www.cockadoodlequilts.com/newsletter/ you will see it as one of the classes. We have the Kits ready and they retail for $115.00. They include the fabrics to make BOTH quilt tops........
Well, I've got to go clean the kitchen.....find more chocolate for the chocaholics and cut some fabric......

Happy Quilting!

Jo-Ann
